The first occupational skill contest of the 2019 campaign was held on June 7th in UDS Oil. Electric equipment repair and maintenance electricians competed for the Best in Trade award. The event took place at the premises of Chepetskoe oil and gas production division.
Theoretical part of the contest included demonstration of professional competencies by answering questions of the electric safety test. All participants have completed the test earlier than required and demonstrated good level of training and results. Maximum score for correct answers was gained by Insaf Garaev (Shop 1 of Yalykskoe field).
In the second round the contestants were requested to connect a metering instrument at 0.4kv switchgear of package transformer substation via current transformers using the proposed diagram. At this stage judges evaluated safety of works, speed of assembling, proper use of tools and sequence of actions, operability and aesthetic qualities of the circuit, quality of installation, saving of consumables, workplace culture. All participants endeavored to complete the work within the time limit with proper quality and meeting the safety requirements.
Following the theoretical and practical parts of the contest Insaf Garaev (Shop 1 of Yalykskoe field) was recognized as the best in trade among the electric equipment repair and maintenance electricians. Last-year's winner, Sergei Golovkov (Shop 2, Vysokovskoe field), is the second with minimum lagging behind the leader. Valeriy Matveev (Shop 3, Chepetskoe oil and gas production division) is the third.
It was my first participation in the contest but deep inside I expected the victory, shares his impressions Insaf Garaev. Testing and practical activity were less of a problem for me as this is our routine work and we shall know it and perform quickly and on high quality level. It was more difficult to manage agitation, when each action is evaluated by the expert commission. Persistence, skill and experience enabled me to take the first place as I have been working in this trade for more than 30 years. I have worthy competitors so the win is twice pleasant!

Occupational skill contest is the opportunity to come into the spotlight, learn from counterparts, enrich one's experience and share knowledge with others. It is a good motivation for improving competency and expertise, strengthen team spirit and corporate unity. Ultimately, we have common goals and work in one company.
