UDS Oil summed up the results of the first occupational skill contest among light motor vehicle (LMV) and bus drivers. Eleven people took part in the contest.

As usual, the contest was run in two stages. Theoretical part included testing of traffic code knowledge. Test duration was 15 minutes, but in spite of the agitation everyone has completed the task ahead of time. Drivers Andrei Antipin, Rifat Gareishin, Mikhail Martyushev has not made a single mistake and demonstrated the perfect level of training.

Practical part included demonstration of driving skills on vehicle testing ground by completing a set of exercises in Toyota Hilux vehicle: bank-to-bank reversal, a 90-degree reversal, backing into a perpendicular park and parallel parking. Judges evaluated accuracy and speed of maneuvers, compliance with traffic code, safety of driving.

Rifat Gareishin, driver of Transport Department of OOO UDS Oil (drives GAZ 27527 Sobol LMV), was recognized as the Best in Trade based on the total score of two stages. He was the first in the theoretical part and without mistakes and confirmed his perfect result during the practical part.

- It is the first time I participate in the occupational skill contest. I have achieved my goal and happy with the result. I’ve come here to win and was preparing both for stages and morally. On top of that I am always lucky. Also, I have a secret winner's cologne water! - says the winner of the contest. It's more difficult to take part in the contest than do one's job in normal environment. During the contest the participants are under the close attention of judges and no one wants to get outplayed. When at work, you act automatically without a second thought owing to the skills and practical experience. My driving background is 11 year including four years in UDS Oil. With regard to the qualities of ideal driver, no one is perfect, everyone is human and has their strong and weak spots. I believe that professional drivers shall know the edge of their capabilities and never challenge them. On top of that, continuous practicing is required. Next year I intend to defend my Best in Trade title!

Sergei Mezrin (Ford Transit van) and Mikhail Martyushev (Mercedec-Benz V250) took the second and the third places correspondingly.

When summing up the results of the event during the awarding ceremony, Alexander Perminov, UDS Oil Chief Engineer and chairman of judges, has noted:

- Occupational skill contests are not only testing of knowledge and practical skills of employees. Such events encourage people to grasp occupational secrets, advance in skill, which ultimately ensures professional growth of the entire team. There are over 600 high-end professionals in our company. It is critical for quality workmanship and achievement of common goals that all employees feel like they are a part of a team. Contests unite employees, give the possibility to communicate with colleagues from different departments, share experience, learn from each other and strengthen corporate ties. Today the participants actively supported each other, got thrilled, cheered on, treated others as colleagues but not competitors and were ready to give them a hand. These are team qualities, which held up to achieve critical results and be at the top of the game.

All participants were awarded with certificates and gifts, winners received money rewards. We would like to thank the competitors for consistency of aim and will-to-win spirit and congratulates winners of the contest! Let the achieved results inspire you for new success. We wish you safe roads, green traffic lights and successful journeys!
