UDS OIL held the first professional skill competition

On June 8, 2018, UDS OIL held the first professional skill competition, in which operators of three oil and gas production units participated. The event took place on multiple well pad No.1 of Yalykskoye field.

The competition was held in two stages: the test of theoretical knowledge and the execution of a written assignment. The results were assessed by judges under the chairmanship of the Deputy CEO Aleksandr Perminov, Chief Engineer of LLC UDS OIL.

As regards the theoretical part, the participants answered questions of the test, related to the knowledge of specific nature of the occupation, industrial processes, characteristics of the equipment, requirements of the regulatory documents concerning the occupational health and industrial safety. Operators dealt successfully with the task demonstrating a good level of competence.

The practical part of the competition took place in the production site of the field and allowed the participants to show their professional skills. As a competition task the operators replaced the driving belts of a beam pumping unit and determined the daily production rate of a well according to the automatic pad metering station. Judges assessed the quality of the fulfilled tasks, sequence, efficiency, and safety of the operators’ actions, the accuracy of calculations. Despite the fact that the operation was familiar and practiced until it became automatic, the participants were nervous. It’s one thing to execute it in the course of daily routine but it’s entirely another thing to do the same during the competition. Nevertheless, the participants overcame the nervousness and defended the honor of their units.

Following the results of the professional competition the winner was declared Aleksandr Lekomtsev, the operator of oil production and treatment unit-1, who demonstrated the best knowledge of theory and scored the highest points for the practical task. The second place was taken by Andrei Nikitin, the operator of oil and gas production unit-2. Aleksei Sobolev, the operator of oil and gas production unit-3 took the third place. All the competitors were presented with certificates and gifts, the winners were awarded money prizes.

- Frankly speaking, I didn’t expect to take the first place. The rivals were strong and worthy. I just tried to accomplish my task one hundred percent correctly and show all my knowledge and skills. The expertise and support of colleagues helped me a lot, Aleksandr Lekomtsev commented on his victory.

According to the Deputy CEO Aleksandr Perminov, Chief Engineer of LLC UDS OIL, the objective of the competition «Best in the Occupation» is to assess the knowledge and professional skills of workers, identify their potential, level of competence and determine the points of growth.

- For the company’s experts the participation in such competitions is the opportunity to show their worth, communicate with colleagues from other units, adopt better practices and enrich their professional expertise. The competition enhances the prestige and the status of workers, stated Aleksandr Perminov. Apart from that, it is a perfect tool for the team building, promotion of the production standards and labor discipline. For the first professional skill competition in the history of UDS OIL, the participants demonstrated a pretty good level of training, but there is also a room for improvement. Following the results of the event the directions of further development and training of employees are outlined.

We noticed the key point that is the great desire of our experts to participate in such events, their personal involvement, intention of the career advancement and improvement. Professional skill competitions represent a good practice that will proceed in the company. Before the end of the year we are planning to hold another few «Best in the Occupation» competitions.

The results of professional competition proved once again that the team of UDS OIL has the best personnel, which are active, motivated, constantly cultivating their skills, people of word and deed, professionals with a capital P. We congratulate Aleksandr Lekomtsev with the well-earned victory and express our gratitude to all operators for the participation.
