Another Best in Trade contest was held in UDS Oil


The occupational skill contest among electric and gas welders was held on July 19 in Azinskoe field. Traditionally, the event consisted of theoretical and practical part. 

The theoretical part included questions and answers session related to the job specifics, production processes, characteristics of equipment, requirements of health and safety regulations. The theoretical part was followed by the practical testing. The competitors were required to weld test joints of tubulars. Overall score included compliance with requirements of welding procedure specifications, compliance with safety rules, visual and dimensional inspection of weld quality. 

Based on the total score for theoretical and practical parts the following three winners of the contest were determined:

  • Aleksandr Smolnikov (Oil Production and Treatment Shop №3) is in the first place;

  • Aleksandr Kokoulin (Oil Production and Treatment Shop №1) in the second-best;

  • Aleksei Bobkov (Oil Production and Treatment Shop №2) is in the third place.

 All competitors were ceremoniously awarded with certificates and gifts, winners received money rewards.

It is the first time I participate in such contest. I was preparing several weeks for such an important event and still I did not expect that I would win, says Aleksandr Smolnikov, winner of the contest. - Our job requires attention to details, commitment; there is no room for mistakes; that's why, we strictly follow adhere to occupational safety and seek for continuous increase of skill level. I, for one, always engage with more experienced colleagues and adopt their tricks of the trade.

Occupational skill contest is the challenge, which allows every employee to demonstrate their skills and knowledge. It was interesting to test myself, my capacities. I surfed Internet for information, studied operating procedures in order to prepare for the contest. There was a lot to remember and recapitulate. It was a rewarding experience for me and my colleagues, says Aleksandr Kokoulin, awardee of the contest.
