For each of us May 9th is the sacred and cherished banner day. It unites all generations of Russian nationals by the memory of great courage of our fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers. The perished are honored on this day and words of gratitude are said to the living combat and home front veterans. They had to go through tough times. Their life is the example of bravery, courage, valiance and true love to the motherland.

Marfa Nevostrueva was born on April 2, 1925 in Pyshket village, Yukamenskiy District. Her father died early before the war. Marfa was the oldest of five children and had to work together with her mother to provide for her brothers and sisters. In summer they worked on kolkhoz fields, in winter they felt timber and constructed Balezino road. In 1946 after the war’s end they were dispatched to Izhevsk to build apartment blocks. Marfa was working in construction company 11, where she met her future husband, Serafim Nevostrueva. They have raised four children, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Marfa has retired from bath and laundry company, where she worked for 30 years. Her husband was awarded the title of Honored builder of the Udmurt Republic in the aftermath of the war.
