A team from UralDomStroy made the architectural tour to the Netherlands during April 22-26. Main objectives of the trip were to study successful experience of residential designing and creation of comfortable living environment, learn the best European practices of modern architecture and urban design.
The visit agenda was eventful. Within four days the company's specialists visited Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Eindhoven. They learned the architectural and public, commercial and residential space improvement specifics, emphasized ingenious ideas and innovative solutions, which will be implemented in future UralDomStroy's projects. Fruitful meetings were held with partners – international expert teams in architectural and Urban Studies (MLA+, CIE Architects, Space&Matter). Further, UralDomStroy representatives evaluated benefits and prospects of floating houses, which is a new format of residential property for Russia.
A meeting with Cees Donkers, famous Dutch urbanist and architect was held in Eindhoven, which is known as the city of designers. During the meeting Mr. Donkers shared his experience of re-development of industrial buildings. Through the case studies, he demonstrated the ways for transforming empty industrial sites into comfortable residential estate, different retail formats, educational and developing projects, and shared his experience of inspiring the public to participate in creation of effective urban space.

The tour was a combination of impressions from various value paradigms - cozy yards, well-designed comfort, care about communications between people, and, at the same time, bold, confrontational and extravagant solutions as compared to our standards. I think that each one of us has made their own conclusions and discoveries from the tour. I appeal to the Dutch style, its success is pre-determined by boldness, expert approach, social engineering, eye for details and continuous state of exploration of almost every architect. We do business with partners from the Netherlands and now we better understand each other. Further work on the product is already conducted considering the Dutch experience.

The Netherlands school is standing in stark contrast to other architectural schools in the world. Full immersion into this environment is very inspiring! Study of successful real estate development projects, continuous upgrade of expertise, sharing of experience with Russian and foreign counterparts increases competencies of the UralDomStroy team. Company not only brings its product to a whole new level, but expands its limits beyond the apartment and building to city blocks, districts and city as a whole and creates a colorful living environment, which meets the highest comfort, ecology and safety requirements.
